Dear Friend:

Are you a business leader who:
  • Is ready to learn how to use social media as a business growth tool?

  • Wants to use social media to make money instead of wasting money?

  • Wants to create a social media action plan so you stop chasing the latest, greatest or newest online trend?

  • Believes that there's a better way to find new clients without cold calling or buying ads?

  • Is looking for guidance from proven experts who are using social media to build their platform, become financially successful and find clients with ease?
If you've answered "Yes" to any of the questions above, read on. The information on this page is long, but I promise that what I’ll reveal in the next few paragraphs will completely blow you away.

Is Social Media a Fad?

This is just one of the myths that some business leaders have about social media. Here are a few more:

  • "Facebook is only useful for finding old classmates and catching up with friends", says one business leader.

  • "My kids use MySpace to share music. I can't possible see how I can use it grow my business", says another.

  • "Aren't blogs used to share with the world what you're eating, drinking or watching at this very moment?"

  • "Only teenagers are listening to podcasts. I mean, I don't even own an iPod".

  • "The dot com bubble burst in the late 1990s, so it's only a matter of time before the social media hype dies down".

  • "Second Life to grow my business? Naw, it's just used by anti social twenty-somethings who use it to simulate sex". (thanks for this one Kate)

A long time ago, I too believed some of these myths. I thought that social media was just a way to make friends online. You know - swap recipes, gossip about Hollywood celebrities and play mindless 3D games to pass the time.

But then in 2003, I opened my first account on a social networking website. I was amazed at how many business people I met who only wanted to build relationships for business reasons.

While some were interested in talking about their favorite science fiction television show, the majority of people I met wanted tips on how to solve some of their biggest business related problem.

So, I joined more social networking websites and found the very same thing. Business leaders using common networking tactics to open doors, close deals and make money over the Internet.

For example:
  • One woman, Bonnie Lowe, profiled me and a few dozen experts in an ebook called Networkaholics Revealed. All the interviews in her ebook came from people she met while using a social networking website. This ebook helped to establish her as a career and networking expert in under a year.

  • One man, Scott Stratten, was featured in an article in USA Today about his business activities on a social networking website. That one mention in a nationally distributed newspaper resulted in thousands of dollars in new business.

  • Another man, Simon Rogers, closed £1 million in deals for his company due to his participation on a social networking website.

  • Another woman, Marilyn Jennet, has consistently sold out her virtual events called Feel Free to Prosper as a result of networking online with other business owners.

It Was Only a Matter of Time Before I Started Seeing My Own Success

Fast forward 5 years and I now use a variety of social media tools to grow my business. Blogs, podcasts, wikis, Second Life, Facebook, Twitter, you name it, I use it.

Because of this, I've experienced incredible shifts in my business as a result of using social media. I don't cold call, I don't buy ads and I rarely attend in person networking events. Instead, I spend my time promoting my brand using social media.

Here's just a snapshot of my successes:
  • I was the only coach named by Canada's Word of Mouth Expert as one of the Top 50 Media & Marketing Bloggers in Canada.

  • Because of my podcast, a publisher contacted me to write Podcasting for Profit. I didn't shop around a book proposal, nor did I work with a literary agent.

  • Social media has helped me maintain a #1 ranking in Google for the search term podcasting expert which has resulted in speaking engagements and interviews that practically fall into my lap.

  • I've been called a "Podcasting Queen" (Suzanne Falter-Barns), "Ms. Podacious" (Lia Allen & Milana Leshinsky), the "First Lady of Podcasting" (John C. Havens) and a "Podcasting Extraordinaire" (Globe & Mail technology columnist, Mathew Ingram) all because of my blog and podcast.

  • I close deals faster because of social media. I build relationships with prospects who visit my blog, listen to my podcast and network with me online. This means that when they're ready to buy, they come to me.

I list these not to impress you, but to show you what is possible when you use social media for business purposes.

Social Media Is Helping Ordinary Business Leaders Experience Extraordinary Results

If my successes aren't enough to convince you that social media is not a fad, let me share some statistics with you:
  • 48% of business leaders spend 2-5 hours a week using social media tools to generate leads and find new clients (Source: socialmediaiq.com)

  • 42% of sales managers view blogs and podcasts as very important sales generating tools (Source: MarketingSherpa)

  • Of the Top 8 most visited sites worldwide, 5 are social networking websites – MySpace, Facebook, Orkut, Live.com, YouTube (Source: eMarketer)

  • The fastest growing demographic of social media users is those 25 years old and older (source: too many surveys to list here)

  • Just under 49,000 people who use Second Life are earning a positive cash flow in the virtual world (source: Second Life)
If you're a business leader, you can't afford to dismiss social media any longer. Your customers are using Facebook, YouTube, wikis, blogs, podcasts and other social media tools to talk about your products and services. Ignoring this virtual conversation will result in being left behind.

Do You Hate the Technology Or Do You Feel Queasy About the Loss of Time, Privacy & Control?

I recently conducted a survey asking business leaders what concerns them the most about using social media as a business tool. The feedback was surprising.
"I don't understand it enough to use it. I need to have a thorough understanding to wrap my head around it all to use it properly. Also, finding the time to learn when there aren't enough hours already!"
"My concern is related to the seemingly never ending change in this medium. The options are overwhelming and an immeasurable amount of time is spent in determining what is most appropriate for your business and customers or clients. There's also the intimidation factor of technology in general and the vulnerability of it."
"I don't have enough time to adequately devote to learning all the different social media tools so they can positively impact my business in 2008."
"Privacy, and time wasted. All of these social networking services are like banks -- you have to check all of your information into them, and then they leverage that info for their gain. And while they have it, you've given up a lot of control over it. And then, if they disappear or drastically re-design their system, you could lose all of that data you put into the system."

Yes! You Can Use Social Media for Business AND Be In Control

You're a smart, savvy and sophisticated business person. You know your business well, but you don't have enough hours in the day to add yet another tool to your business.

I totally understand.

However, I challenge you to think bigger in 2008. Don't let your fears or concerns stop you from enjoying one of the easiest ways to get new clients, make money and become more visible in your niche.

But don't do this alone. Accelerate your success by allowing me the chance to guide you on this journey.

If I could show you how to use social media so you:
  • Use your time wisely

  • Protect your privacy

  • Maintain control

  • Shorten your learning curve

  • And have loads of fun without doing anything technical
Plus, how to use social media to:
  • Build your personal brand

  • Make some money

  • Generate new business

  • Stay current without wasting time following every shiny object

  • And create your ideal lifestyle by working less and playing more
Would that be of interest to you?

Instead, spend your time with 26 innovative experts focusing on the fun ways to make a six or seven figure income using socia media. Now that's exciting stuff.

What Makes This Event Different?

1 – Experience Social Media Live (And Make Mistakes In a Supportive Environment)

There's no better way to understand social media than to use the tools. Make the mistakes, ask questions, do whatever it takes during the 8 day event to help you become more comfortable with the social media tools you're thinking about implementing for your own business.

2 – Network in the Private Telesummit Second Life Room

Unlike other events where you meet and greet using a discussion forum, you will be invited to a private room in Second Life where you can network with speakers and other attendees in a 3D world.

3 – Participate in a Special Collaborative Project

You'll be invited to collaborate and contribute to my newest project, The Social Media Manifesto, an ebook that will feature your stories and tips on how to use social media for business. You get to see how I prepare a product for launch, plus how I use social media as part of my marketing tool. Not only that, but you get to sell the finished product on your own blog or website and keep 100% of the profits. Only those who choose Plan C will be invited to collaborate and contribute to this ebook.

4 – Become a Telesummit "Team Member"

As a Telesummit Team Member, you get to add your thoughts to the Telesummit blog and podcast. Whether you're new to social media or not, share resources on the Telesummit blog or podcast up until the start of the Telesummit. This is an excellent way to get known fast. Only those who choose Plan B or C can become a Telesummit Team Member.

5 – No Selling, Only Teaching

Like you, I've attended events where speaker after speaker go on stage, entertain the audience with funny stories, then sell an expensive item to an exhausted crowd. The Social Media Telesummit is different. Each speaker will teach you a skill, tool or technique in 45 minutes. No upselling, no cheerleading, no theory - just solid advice from real life case studies. Take the time to write down every gem and soak in every word.

6 – Design Your Social Media Action Plan

Getting so much information at once can be overwhelming. That's why you'll be invited to a 90 minute strategy session 2 weeks after the Telesummit ends. Join me as I coach you on how to design your 90 Day action plan for social media success.

Still Have Questions About the Live Telesummit Format? Here's What You Need to Know

1 – The Live Event is Held Over the Phone

After you register for the Telesummit, you will receive a conference bridge number and an access code. On the day and time of the sessions, just pick up your phone, dial the numbers and you'll be connected to the event. Long distance charges apply. Or, if you have high speed Internet access, you can stream the live sessions through your browser. It's your choice.

2 – The Live Event is 3 hours a Day Over an 8 Day Period

The Telesummit begins on Wednesday February 20, 2008 and ends Friday February 29, 2008 (weekends excluded). We start at 12:00pm EST (New York time) each day and end at 3:00pm EST (New York time). There are also six one hour bonus calls at 8:00pm EST (New York time) starting on Thursday February 21 and ending on Thursday February 28, 2008.

3 – Interaction During the Live Event Is Encouraged

The sessions will be muted to achieve the highest level of call recording, but that doesn't mean you can't ask questions. At times during the session, the call will be unmuted to allow for questions. You can also use instant messenger and Skype to text your questions to me and I'll ask the speaker on your behalf.

Already Booked for Meetings or a Vacation When the Live Calls Take Place? No Problem! You Can Listen to the Recordings Anytime At Your Leisure

I'd love it if you can join us live for each session. That way, you can ask the speakers questions and take part in the interactive events.

But I understand if you can't join us live. Vacations, meetings, even living in a different timezone can prevent you from attending the live sessions during the afternoon.

The good news is that each session will be recorded. The recordings will be posted 24 hours after the live session ends. Whether it's 3am Tokyo time or 10am Los Angeles time, you can playback the recordings whenever you like.

There's nothing to download. Just login to the Private Attendees Area, turn up your speakers or plug in your headphones, then click on the play button.

Have a question about the content? Want to interact with other attendees? Not a problem. Just go to the forums in the Private Attendees' Area and leave your comments or questions there. You can interact with other attendees on your own schedule. It's that easy!

Instead, register your spot right now. That way, you can listen to the recordings once you return from vacation or have a spare moment in your day.

Want to Download the Recordings? Here's How...

During the Telesummit, you can listen to the recordings by going to the Private Attendees' Area. Just login, turn up your speakers and click the play button. You can review any of the sessions you missed.

Yet, you may want to download the sessions to your computer or your portable MP3 player to listen while you're running errands or traveling. So, after the Telesummit is over, you'll receive one recording per week through a private RSS feed.

All attendees, regardless of the plan you choose, will get a unique RSS feed. Just like a podcast, you can download the recordings of each session one by one through this feed. From March 1 to October 31, 2008, you get one session a week for 8 months until all the sessions have been delivered.

If you want the recordings quicker and all at once, choose Plan B or C to get one of the following mailed to your door 60 days after the Telesummit ends:

Telesummit Recordings
on CD

Telesummit Recordings

How Much Would It Cost You to Access These Experts One by One?

While pulling together the bios for each of the speakers, I took a peek at their consulting fees. Some charge as little as $500 to as much as $5,000 for just an hour of their time.

Let's compare this to the Social Media Telesummit.

You're getting 3 hours of training over an 8 day period, plus 6 bonus sessions. That's 30 hours in total. If you divide that by the lowest entry price, you pay as little as $6.50 per hour to access 26 amazing experts who will teach you how to use social media as a business tool.

I should be charging a ton more money for access to these bestselling authors, millionaire coaches, world class speakers, success gurus and social media experts. But I won't.

Instead, register your spot right now so you too can discover these money making and client attraction secrets all from the comforts of your home or office.
